The Shenandoah Photographic Society has been active in the Shenandoah Valley for nearly 40 years, witnessing the transition from film-only photography to the explosion in digital photography. While most of out members have gone digital, there are still those who shoot film and work in the darkroom to produce magnificent images.
We are a group of photographers, ranging from beginner to advanced, who get together to learn and share.
Join us! We hold monthly meetings January through October. These monthly meetings typically include a speaker or workshop, along with a photography competition. In November, we have our annual banquet and year-end competition, and in December we get together for an informal social gathering. In addition, club members get together for occasional local and out of town photography shoots.

Monthly Competitions
Our monthly competitions are open to all members and alternate between specified topics (e.g. "water" or "abstract") and "open," meaning that any subject is fine.
You choose the level appropriate to your skill: A (advanced), B (intermediate), or C (beginner).
You can enter up to six images per evening: two in color category, two in monochrome category, and two in the enhanced category. All images must be matted or mounted, but must not be framed. For more information, please see the bylaws.
Who judges these competitions? We all do! All members who enter competitions serve as judges throughout the year.
Annual Banquet Competition
Winning images that place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd from the monthly competitions are eligible to compete in the year end competition. This competition is judged by an outside nonmember with considerable expertise.
Who: Photographers of all skill levels are welcome.
When: 7pm on the 3rd Monday of the month, January through October. The November banquet and the December social event are to be announced.
